The County has recently awarded a contract to a private solid waste firm to truck and haul the County’s extra garbage to a landfill in Osceola County. Although this helps the County to meet the short term needs of the community, it is not a viable long-term solution given the 200 mile round trip and high fuel costs. However, this option is less expensive than expanding the incinerator.
