Pasco County and its citizens can gain multiple, substantial benefits if the proposed Composting and Recycling Facility is selected as the solid waste management method. These benefits include:
- A savings for the taxpayers of Pasco County of approximately $515 million over 22 years – a savings of over $23 million annually!
- Disposal capacity for several decades, since the garbage will be actively decomposed, thereby creating additional space for more garbage to be disposed. Expansion of the existing incinerator is little more than a “band-aid” on the county’s garbage problem – projections indicate that expansion of the incinerator will merely delay the issues we're having right now while significantly contributing to additional hazardous air pollution.
- A positive impact on the recycling participation in Pasco County by the construction of our recycling center. This facility will provide citizens a location to take their household recyclables.
- With the tax money saved by choosing to construct the Composting and Recycling Facility, there can be significant expansion of the existing curbside recycling system in the county. This will further increase our county’s recycling rates.
